We believe that we can play a key part in building children's confidence. We also believe that confident children do better in school and in everyday social situations.
One of the ways we try to do this in St John's is by giving our pupils weekly drama classes.
We believe that by introducing the skills of drama and role play right from Primary 1, we are equipping our students with all the necessary skills that will help them thrive not only in primary and secondary school, but well betond in to their adult lives.
We are very fortunate that we have built up an excellent partnership with CRAIC Theatre in Coalisland.
We have been given the opportunity to put on whole school productions in their state of the art theatre.
We include every pupil from primary 1 to primary 7.
The buzz and excitement generated in rehearsals and performing in front of hundreds of people is something that we believe will live long in the memory of all of our children.
Indeed, it is also a proud moment for parents and staff at Kingsisland to see our young pupils growing in confidence throughout every performance.
Shows that we have performed to date include:
- Hansel and Gretel (JUNE 2007)
- Puss N Boots (JUNE 2008)
- The North Pole Goes Rock N Roll (DECEMBER 2009)
- Mrs Claus to the Rescue (DECEMBER 2011)
- Ye Ha (DECEMBER 2013)
- Pirates of Kingsisland (DECEMBER 2015)
- Santa Goes Hip! (DECEMBER 2017)
We look forward to continuing this excellent tradition for many years to come.
