GRITTING SERVICE TO ANNAGHMORE ROAD29 March 2021 (by admin) |
Over this past few years we, along with many others, have called for the entire Annaghmore Road, from Clonoe to Kingsisland School, to be gritted, during periods of extreme icy weather conditions.
As part of this road already receives a gritting service, we don't believe that asking for all of the road (less than 2 miles) to be gritted is an onerous request.
As the school enrolment has continued to increase, so has the volume of traffic using this stretch of road. Aswell as being used by local residents, the road is also a daily route for many school buses, servicing secondary schools in Coalisland, Dungannon and Donaghmore.
In the interests of the safety of our wider community, we have felt obliged to take measures into our own hands. The school has therefore been employing the services of private contractor CRL, to carry out this gritting service.
We do not believe that Kingsisland school should have to bare responsibility for gritting this road, we will therefore continue to make requests for this service to be provided directly by Roads Service.
To help us in this matter, we kindly ask you to click LIKE on this Facebook post to show your support for our request to have ALL of the Annaghmore Road gritted during periods of icy weather conditions.
