5th Jun 2025
St. John's Primary School P7 Boys Crowned Tyrone Outdoor GAA Champions! It was a day to remember for the P7 Boys of St. John's Primary School, Kingsisland, as they were crowned Cuman na mBunscol Tír Eoghan Outdoor Champions at the Tyrone GAA Headquarters in Garvaghey — completing a magnificent double by adding the outdoor title to their earlier Tír Eoghan indoor triumph. The boys' journey to glory began with a tough semi-final clash against Dunnamore Primary School. In a physical and hard-fought encounter, St. John's showed tremendous grit, skill and determination to come out on top on a scoreline of 2-5 to 1-2. In the final, the Kingsisland Boys faced Cabragh Primary School. Danny O'Neill opened the scoring with a fine point, followed by two well-taken scores from Jonathan Blair, giving the boys a 3 points to 1 lead at half-time. With a strong wind blowing against them in the second half, the boys dug deep, showing unbelievable character and teamwork. Daire Robinson was a rock in goals, pulling off several outstanding saves. Seanan Fox-Duffy mopped up every ball that came his way. Louis O'Neill kicked two superb points into the wind, and Jonathan Blair sealed the victory with a brilliant left-footed effort, leaving the final score at 0-6 to 0-1. When the team returned to school, they were greeted with a guard of honour and rapturous applause from the entire school community. Every single member of the squad was presented with their county medal from Joe Canavan, Cuman na mBunscol. View more photos on Facebook
