P4/5 EASTER CUP

28th Apr 2025
Basked in glorious sunshine on a pristine playing surface, the Primary 4/5 Easter Cup took centre stage as the boys and girls battled it out for the coveted Kingsisland International trophy. With Brazil and the Netherlands dominating the group stages, it was left for a plucky Ireland squad to beat Spain in a keenly contested quarter final to meet Brazil in the semis. France dominated Portugal in the other quarter to set up a semi final against the Dutch. After a pulsating 1-1 draw, France won through to the final on penalties, while the Irish turned on the style to run away with a 4-1 win against the Seleção. There was no quarter given in the final, with the tournament's standout player Éowyn making numerous interceptions, blocks and slick passes as France pushed for a winner in regulation time. With the game in extra time, a penalty save from Golden Glove winner CJ gave the green machine the momentum to push on for a winner, which duly arrived amid scenes of pandemonium in the crowd! It was wonderful to see almost every child in P4/5 take part today and the spirit of fair play and teamwork was a marvel to observe. View more photos on Facebook
