Easter Cup 2024

There were many amateur weather reporters throughout the day, but eventually in the afternoon, much to everyone's delight, it did stop raining! With just enough time for the football, we got started with a tight group stage. Italy, France, Scotland and Spain advanced to the Cup semi-finals, with Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and Portugal in the Shield semi-finals. After a few cagey group stage games, the goals started to flow. Germany and Netherlands advanced to the Shield final and it was Brendan in P7 who led by example all tournament to get the winning goals in the final. The Cup final between Italy and Scotland was a classic. With 30 seconds remaining it was 2-2 but 2 goals were rattled in with Cameron instrumental in winning the Cup for Italy. There was just about enough time to give out some awards, and it was the P5s who were picked out. The golden glove for best goalkeeper went to Alfie, with awards for those who stood out for playing in the right spirit going to Caolan and Muireann — the younger children on this occasion really showing the others how it's done.
