AFTER SCHOOL SOCCER
21st Mar 2024
There was an international flavour to today's P4/5 afterschool soccer club. After a series of round robin games Ireland and Portugal contested the 3rd and 4th place playoff.
They couldn't be separated and following a tense penalty shoot-out, Cathaoir McDonald produced an outstanding performance, saving every penalty to see Ireland home. In the World Cup final Italy were raging hot favourites after comfortably winning all three group games, but up stepped Darragh Campbell with a moment of brilliance to ease his Dutch team to victory.
Special mention to Alice Hughes for battling through the pain barrier to pick up the MVP ladies award, and to Connla for taking care of the scores and timekeeping duties. Brilliant participation by every pupil today.
